‘You Don’t Look Like an Ultrarunner’

The book ‘You Don’t Look Like An Ultrarunner’ is a true story that follows Tristan as he negotiates his life either side of his bipolar diagnosis.

Tristan gives us an unflinching, honest and often humerous account of his fascinating life . His adventure takes him from working as a zoo keeper in Cornwall, to a birder, twitcher and nature reserve warden in Perthshire, before travelling overseas to Arctic Norway, Spain, Turkiye, West Asia and the Republic of Georgia all while dealing with the often extreme symptoms of bipolar disorder. We follow Tristan’s journey as he eventually finds some comfort by becoming a very unlikely ultrarunner.

This is a story of adventure, inspiration, positivity and achievement against all odds.

This book was published in November 2023 before Tristan’s first full manic episode and before his diagnosis was changed from bipolar 2 to bipolar 1. He is not quite ready to write a sequel to this memoir yet, but he won’t rule out the idea!
