Out to the coast…

Pied Avocet

This morning my eldest daughter and I made our way out to the coast to see if we could find some birds to keep us occupied for a few hours. We weren’t disappointed, birdsong was in full flow. As we walked the hedgerows and scrub areas we saw and heard multiples of Common Whitethroat, Lesser Whitethroat, Willow Warbler, Chiffchaff, Blackcap an Sedge Warbler. Interestingly Shannon found a striking leucistic Linnet perched up on a flowering gorse bush.

Over the high-tide we logged a nice selection of shorebirds, including, Whimbrel, Bar-tailed Godwit, Dunlin and Ringed Plovers. Barnacle Geese, Northern Shoveller, Eurasian Teal and several Little Egrets were a nice bonus.

Another good day out with Shannon. I’m still feeling relatively positive about things, and I think I might have avoided another manic episode this time….

More adventures to come…
